This course is for individuals who are looking to achieve the skills and qualifications needed to gain employment within the construction industry. You will achieve the skills and qualifications needed to gain access to site and work within the sector.
There are no formal entry requirements, however, individuals that are claiming benefits may want to discuss this course with their Jobcentre Plus Work Coach, who can arrange a referral and pay travel expenses.

The course is comprised of a mixture of externally set exams and internally set assessments. Your progress will be assessed at regular intervals for each subject using classroom and practical assignments.

Upon successful completion of the course, Northumberland College will apply and pay for a green Labourer CSCS Card on your behalf.
The CSCS Card will be valid for a period of 5 years and will need to be renewed after this period.
This course is delivered over 10 consecutive days between 09:30am-15:30pm each day.
The aim of this course is to allow you to achieve the qualification needed to be issued with a CSCS Card and to assist you with moving into employment within the construction industry.
You will work towards two qualifications as part of the programme:
- Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment
- Level 1 Employability Skills
Upon successful completion of the qualifications, you will then sit the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test.

On completion of this course, you will could gain employment in the warehousing, storage and logistics industry and will have accrediation to operate a counterbalance forklift truck safely.
