We offer courses from Entry Level to GCSE to fit the learners needs. All students are initially assessed in Maths and English when joining the programme. From that point, an individual programme will be developed to suit their individual needs and goals.

Those that do not have a grade 4 or equivalent, work towards this qualification (or their next step qualification) over the duration of their course. Award assessments are completed formally for Maths and English.

The Supported Level 1 programme introduces formal learning and a qualification to the study programme. Students can choose between an Award in Animal Care or Hospitality and Catering.

The Supported Level 1 is a direct entry programme for some stiudents or progression for students from the Carousel programme.

This Level 1 programme develops knowledge, skills and behaviours in a vocational setting. As well as completing a recognised qualification, an independent living project develops the required skills for adulthood, independence and progression.

Students will study two units that supports the achievement of an award in either Animal Care or Hospitality and Catering.

Animal Care:
- Unit 1 - Complete an assessed Health and Safety unit
- Unit 2 - Handling and restraining animals, moving animals and cleaning and maintaining animal accommodation

Hospitality and Catering:
- Unit 1 - Introduction to the hospitality and catering industry
- Unit 2 - Prepare and present basic food dishes

In addition to this qualification, students will develop their independent living skills with a year long independent living skills project that aligns to personal EHCP outcomes.

The independent living skills project explores and develops confidence in living independently, budgeting, paying bills, how to look after yourself, employability skills, developing independence in travel and in the workplace, as well as everyday Maths.

What’s next?

Students will progress from this course into mainstream curriculum subjects of their choice or will be supported to leave college to live and work independently through targeted transition.
