Whilst there are no formal minimal entry requirements, what we do as is that you are ethusiastic and keen to learn all aspects of the course.
If you are required to continue with Maths and English Studies, you will be supported in this. They are essential skills that you will need to progress and succeed in this industry. Your commitment and positive attitude to these as well as the vocational elements are compulsory.

This course is delivered and assessed through a range of activities including practical tasks as well as end point theory tests using either online or paper based assessment.
In addition to college attendance students will be expected to undertake remote learning and research to complete a range of assignments and tasks. This will involve remote access and use of the colleges learning platforms such as CANVAS as well as targeted internet research and learning
English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career.
If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/ or English at school, we will support you to help you improve your skills.
We work with a wide range of construction companies across the North East and have strong links with both large and small building contractors to assist students in their search for suitable employment opportunities.
Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm. Days and times of study are subject to change. Timetables are confirmed at the start of term.
This course will give you the key skills and knowledge to gain work in the construction industry. It provides an underpinning knowledge of both health and safety and the key principles of construction. The main vocational elements concentrate on the safe and accurate use of both hand tools and power tools to produce a wide range of woodworking joints and joinery components.
The overall course structure incorporates fixed modules which contribute towards the final qualification;

Set up and operate Joinery Power tools
Set out and assemble components using a range
On completion of the level 1 qualification students can look to progress to an Apprenticeship or Trainee employment within the industry or continue with Full time study within the construction industry – e.g. Level 2 Site Carpentry
