What’s it all about?

This course is for those looking to work in the health and social care sector. You will study a range of units relating to care of adults and children. You will produce a portfolio of work which will demonstrate that you are able to apply theory to practice. You will also be required to complete practical placement in health and social care environments to support your study and develop your skills.

Ideally you will hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including maths and English. We will also accept a level 2 progressor, preferably in Health and Social Care or a related area, at Merit or Distinction grade.

A GCSE grade of 4 or higher in Maths and English is a requirement for this course. If you do not achieve a grade 4 in both Maths and English then you would study our level 2 in Health and Social Care for 1 year and then progress to this level 3 course.

We work in close partnership with many of the North East's leading health and social care employers to ensure our students get the best opportunities to progress in their future career path. Some of our employer partners offer students who complete and achieve their programme of study a guaranteed interview with their organisation.

Employers include Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.

Over Monday to Friday, 9am-4.15pm. Days and times of study will be confirmed at the start of term.

What’s next?

On successful completion of the certificate you can progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, or into employment in the health and social care sector in a range of roles.
