This course is aimed at school leavers and progressing students from L2 First Extended Certificate in IT. You will be taught 4 units based around the foundations of IT including; IT Systems, Information Systems, Website Development & Social Media in Business. You will be assessed by a series of classroom activities, written work, practical demonstrations, an external exam, assignments and an externally assessed practical. With this qualification you will be able to gain access to the Diploma in IT and from there you can branch off to employment, Higher National Certificate or University.
5 GCSEs Grade 9-4 (A*-C) including math's & English or prior attainment of a full Level 2 IT qualification.

The course is split up into 2 semesters. The first semester will be taught as a mixture of theory and practical on unit 1 IT Systems and unit 2 Information Systems. At the end of semester 1 there will be an externally assessed exam for unit 1 and a piece of coursework for Information Systems. The second semester will be taught as series of practical sessions with theory lectures. The assessments for semester 2 are pieces of practical and written coursework including theory, design, practical and reviewing/testing.
Maths and English GCSE Grades 9-4 (or equivalent) are required for new starters. For progressing students there will be opportunities to gain GCSE maths and English Grade 9-4.

Once completed, you will be able to progress onto the Diploma in IT which can lead to applying for university. For those not wanting to apply to university this course will give you a good understanding of a wide range of subjects within the IT world from Programming, Hardware Systems, Website Design, Website Development, Business usage of Social Media and much much more!

Once you have obtained the Level 3 extended certificate in IT you could progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in IT.
