Arran Tuck, a former Level 2 Military student, is now a member of the British Army and has helped inspire other Army hopefuls at Northumberland College.
Prior to completing his Level 2 Military Academy diploma at the college, Arran attended ENGAGE in Blyth.
At ENGAGE, Arran was able to focus on learning practical skills like welding, and it was here he first heard about the Military Academy at Northumberland College’s Kirkley Hall Campus.
Arran’s course at the Academy gave him invaluable insight into what the army is about and enabled him to build his confidence through field craft courses and team building activities. He credits this as helping him to turn his life around.
Following the completion of his Level 2 diploma, Arran went on to gain employment, including in the building trade, while going through the application process for the British Army.
Arran has been based in Northern Ireland for the last two-and-a-half years as a proud member of 2nd Battalion Rifles and is being posted to Afghanistan.
When on leave recently, Arran took the time to come to the college to talk to current students about how they can follow their dream of a career in the military.
