What’s it all about?

This course will refresh trainees with the appropriate techniques and underpinning knowledge to ensure that they continue to be confident when working within forestry, arboricultural or allied industries. It will also ensure awareness of current health and safety legislation, and industry good practice keeping individuals up-to-date and skilled.

You will need to be at least 18 years of age and should hold a ‘Certificate of Competence’ in the following units:

• Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting

(Verification of these units must be produced prior to the start of the course.)

You will be taught using a mix of theory and practical and assessment leading to certification should take place as soon as possible following the successful completion of the training course.

This is a short course – 1 day of training with integrated assessment.

This course will take place between 9am-5pm. Days dependent on booking availability.

This course in conjunction with professional training will provide you with information and practical skills relating to:

• Workshop safety
• Site Specific Risk Assessment (SSRA)
• Chainsaw/small engine component maintenance
• prepare the chainsaw for use
• cross-cut timber

Learners successfully completing this course will receive a Lantra Awards Certificate of Competence for Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting Refresher.

Lantra

You will need to be at least 16 years of age and should hold a ‘Certificate of Competence’ in the following units:

- Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Crosscutting
- Award in felling and processing trees up to 380mm

(Verification of these units must be produced prior to the start of the course.)

What’s next?

Following this course, you’ll have the knowledge and skills to safely maintain chainsaws and crosscutting equipment. You will receive accreditation from Lantra, meaning this refresher will enable you to work in this area and maintain chainsaws and crosscutting equipment as part of your work.
