Studying a diploma in Uniformed Public Services at Northumberland College helped Joshua take his first steps towards becoming a police officer.
I wanted to learn more about a career in the police and hopefully become a police officer after the course.
I loved all of the different activities the course provided, for example the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the army course and general in-house activities.
I enjoyed going to work with Northumbria Police at their Ponteland headquarters. I had the opportunity to play a role in a scenario with their firearms teams at their training facility.
The campus was brilliant, it was really accommodating. The library was quiet for studying and it had an amazing sports hall which benefited my course due to the high physical demands it required. The catering facilities were also great.
I had the opportunity to complete my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh Award which allowed me to work as part of a team over three days and achieve our goals.
I am currently a special constable with Northumbria Police alongside my main job as a service advisor at Lookers Renault Newcastle.
Exciting, memorable, opportunity.
