Birthday Parties

Celebrate a birthday with us:

The day will begin with a guided tour of the zoo followed by a private reptile encounters session in our discovery room, then time to enjoy the zoo with one of our classrooms provided for you to enjoy your party food and celebrations.

Birthday parties can start at either 10am or at 2pm (if you require a different time please enquire)

Zookeeper Experience Birthday Party

This full day allows for smaller groups of friends to attend and experience what it is like to be a zookeeper. Shadowing one of our amazing keeper team you will get to feed, clean and handle and health check some of our animals as well as having a party lunch in one of our rooms. This lasts from 10-4pm. These parties are £200.00 for up to 5 children.

We are more than happy to help you achieve the perfect party for your child or family member so please do feel free to ask for any special requests and we will see if we can accommodate these.

Zoo Birthday Party

Northumberland College Zoo Birthday parties are great value. Children get 2 fun-filled hours with one of our presenters where they will be given a 1hour tour of the zoo to learn about all our animals.

The party includes a 1hour private handling session in our discovery room where you will meet some of our reptiles, invertebrates, and amphibians before having your packed lunch which we provide for the children in one of our classrooms. Please note the discovery room seats 20 so additional adults may need to stand around the back.

Duration:

The party starts at 10am or 2pm and lasts for 3 hours (1hour tour, 1hour encounter and 1 hour for food, after which the room needs to be vacated).

Cost and party size:

The cost of a zoo birthday party is £200.00 for up to 10 children with a maximum of 20 children charged at £15 for additional children over 10 guests. Each child can have one free adult attending and the birthday person can have 2 free accompanying adults. This type of party is suitable for children aged 5 and over only. If you wish to have venue, tour and encounters only party where you bring your ALL your own food then the cost would be £150 for up to 10 children then £10 per extra child above that number.

What to wear:

Ideally come prepared for all weathers, only part of the zoo is indoors so in case of poor weather best advice is to bring a rain Mac etc. Bring a sun hat and sun cream if it’s a hot warm day. Water bottles are encouraged which can be carried around throughout the tour.

What to bring with you:

The party tour will last around an hour so please bring sun cream etc. if it’s a sunny day. It’s a great opportunity to get lots of photos so bring your camera too.

On the day:

Start time will be either 10am or 2pm. Please be at the admissions kiosk for 10am or 2pm where your birthday host will be ready to welcome you.

The birthday party will then be shown to the birthday base room where you can leave any belongings - The base room is a classroom which is lockable.

Your birthday host will then take you on a tour of the zoo (adult supervision is still required) Stopping off at all your favourite animals to answer all your questions and let you take some photos if you wish to.

You will then get an animal encounter where your presenter will get some of our reptiles, amphibians and bugs out to show you all in our discovery room. Please note all children need to be seated for the safety of our animals.

You will then head back to the birthday base room for your lunch.

Lunch:

A packed lunch is provided which will be given out at 12.00pm or 4.00pm depending how the earlier activities have got on. We have various options including vegetarian and vegan.

Each packed lunch will contain a sandwich, a drink, a snack bar or chocolate bar and a packet of crisps.

The presenter will leave you to enjoy your lunch but will pop back to see if you need anything etc.
